Welcome Day: International Student Briefing Day

This briefing day is designed to introduce you to studying at UNSW and to provide you with a practical experience of attending lectures and learning in Australia. The one day event is suitable for undergraduate, postgraduate and research students. You will get the opportunity to meet other commencing students, UNSW staff and Student Development International Cultural Mentors.

Registration is required via the SDI Online Booking System. Research students (PhD and Masters by Research) who have difficulties using the SDI Online Booking System can register by sending an email to SDI with the details of their full name, student id number and degree program.

Please note: Australia Award students must attend the compulsory Introductory Academic Program.

What to expect

The program covers topics such as intercultural understanding, teaching and learning in Australia, student support services, professional and personal development and classroom behaviour. Don't miss out on this great opportunity to get to know your university, make new friends and have some fun. 

Getting Started

In addition to attending Briefing day, you should also:

  • Visit the Welcome Centre in the John Goodsell Building, UNSW Kensington campus
  • Get involved in the university-wide orientation activities


Campus tour for International Parents/Family/Caregivers (English & Chinese): Friday 8th February 2019, 11am - 12pm, meet at CLB Foyer

A Seminar for Parents/Family/Caregivers will provide an overview of the requirements of student life at UNSW, including advice for your parents/family/caregivers to help you succeed in your studies. An International Student Advisor will be available to answer any questions. The seminar is delivered in English and Chinese Mandarin. No registration required.
